Yesterday and today
I started a training program for the 5K yesterday. I get the feeling we're not doing this anymore, but if we are, let me know and I'll post details. In a nutshell, I ran.

I exercised. I took a spinning class on Tuesday. I'm very seriously thinking of getting certified to teach. I spoke to the instructor who passed on my name and info to the director (?) of aerobics at the gym.

On Tuesday, I did spinning for 35 minutes, used the elliptical for 15, and then stretched and did abs. I forgot my sneakers in lab, so I had to borrow "dress" sneakers from Fay. It was pretty hilarious trying to exercise in those. I didn't do anything again until today. I did my interval climb, the elliptical, and then jogged. I did some extensive stretching at the end and then abs. My knee's been acting up lately. I think I'm losing muscle. It's not good because I'm going snowboarding in Utah (first time ever) this weekend. I'm starting to worry a little bit. Sumit reassured me though: he informed me that Park City has lots of spas. :)

Yesterday, I did the 20 minute interval climb, a 15 minute jog and 15 minutes on the elliptical. Sumit and I also did about twenty minutes of yoga in the morning. Today, I did the interval climb, elliptical, and the stationary bike.

On Thursday, I did the interval climb for 20 minutes, followed by 20 minutes of spinning and then lots of weights. I did abs, three lower body sets (three reps of 8-12 each of squats, leg press, and dead lift) and three upper body sets (three reps of 8-10 of tricep dips, bicep curls, and butterflies). I was really tired by the end of it, but thankfully Fay and I have this thing where we work out and then we sit in the dry sauna for like 20 minutes. If you have some good moisturizing lotion or oil and a deep conditioner, it's some great pampering! Yesteday I did the interval climb, jogged for 7.5 minutes, and did the elliptical for 23 minutes. Today I'm sore. This is great! I'm pretty sure this blog was a strong factor in me doing weights this week, because I definitely had the inclination to skip it on Thursday.

yoga
Today I did some yoga at USC. I tried out a pilates class the other week and had to leave early because my core was weak and it was putting a lot of strain onto a recurring injury I have in my lower back. So needless to say I was worried about yoga today. My back felt fine, thank god, but I've lost some flexibility from a few years ago. I either need to incorporate more yoga or more stretching. I'm thinking about taking 15 minutes in front of the tv at night to stretch out my legs. Any favorites I should try? I really like pigeon as a hip opener, but am looking for more. I might even get ambitious and add 5 minutes of abs, but thats just crazy talk.

Me too!
So I took the train back to Irvine today where I was surprised with a great home cooked meal, but at 8pm, so no exercise for me either. But I did workout yesterday. Did 15 minutes on the elliptical, a 15 minute jog, and the stair-mill for 15. No weights yet.
playing hooky
I went home really early yesterday, in time for the sun to still be out! To celebrate I went for a run. Using http://www.gmap-pedometer.com/ I found that I ran 2.25 miles in my 'hood. I timed myself, it only took 24 minutes! That is an average of 10.66 min/mile. Its a really fast time for me, so I'm hoping by May when I run that 5k I can beat my college time of 30.30 minutes.

I went spinning yesterday for an hour. I just did my own routine to the music on my player. It was great, but notes to self: margarita and exercise, not always optimal.

Sunday
I really want to switch to a morning workout schedule because it would simplify my life so much, but I haven't yet been successful at it for more than a few weeks. I went to the gym in the evening today and did the interval climb, elliptical and had a quick jog. Weights start this week.
