I'll update now...
Since we never talk anymore and you're not on Facebook, :( I'll update here! This week, I swam on Monday, 30 laps of 50 meters each. Yesterday I used the machines: 15 minute stairmill, 15 minute treadmill, and 15 minute elliptical. I will try to do some weights today. :) How are you doing? You looked great today! Fay says you've lost weight.

I'm back!
I am such a bad exerciser. I get in the workout mode for a week, or two weeks, then I quit. This week I've done hill sprints and a 2.85 mile run. Next week: conference. ugh. There goes my momentum.

keeping up the good work

I did my first dual event this week. I swam for 25 minutes and then ran for 25 on Wednesday. It was great! The transition is really tricky though. Me and my hair were wet and it was weird running with wet hair. It took me longer to get my running gear on too.
Yesterday I couldn't get outside on a bike (I was stuck in LA), so I went spinning for an hour. At least this time, I didn't eat it.

I went running again all on my own. I'm giving myself 2 weeks for intense (read almost daily) exercise sessions before I judge whether its making me thinner. I'm trying to run no less than 2 miles in each run and will "recover" on the elliptical on my days off.

running again
Today I went on a run/walk with my neighbor Karen and her good friend Andrea. The first 1.5 miles were entirely uphill. I ran the last 2 straight. I'm dead now.

Triathlon Training
So I've started training for the LA sprint triathlon which is October 4. I'm doing an 8 week training program and I'll do another longer one when I'm done with the 8 weeks. Yesterday, I did strength training and a 20 minute warm-up/cool-down jog. Today I'm set to jog for half an hour.

Sweet. You've been doing yoga. I've been running. I've had a pretty nasty shin splint for the past couple of weeks though, so I've been trying to take it a little easy and my running program is a little off. Will have to cut back from running after the 5K.

This week
I've been running during the week. Some good milestones were met. I hope to do a 5K Test run outdoors sometime over the weekend. Most of my runs have been on the treadmill lately. We've got about 3 weeks left before the 5K.

Indoor soccer
I played indoor soccer today. HARD. I'm a competitive girl so I play as if I still had my high school endurance (and body). Now my lungs are burning and my face is the color of a ripe tomato. I'm back! I'm going to start running again!

Ouchies
I'm out of shape (again). Although I've lost weight I've also lost muscle. Yesterday I did a Biggest Loser work out video. I only did about 10 minutes worth and my legs (specifically groin and hamstring) are killing me!!!

On Tuesday, I did spinning for 35 minutes, used the elliptical for 15, and then stretched and did abs. I forgot my sneakers in lab, so I had to borrow "dress" sneakers from Fay. It was pretty hilarious trying to exercise in those. I didn't do anything again until today. I did my interval climb, the elliptical, and then jogged. I did some extensive stretching at the end and then abs. My knee's been acting up lately. I think I'm losing muscle. It's not good because I'm going snowboarding in Utah (first time ever) this weekend. I'm starting to worry a little bit. Sumit reassured me though: he informed me that Park City has lots of spas. :)

Yesterday, I did the 20 minute interval climb, a 15 minute jog and 15 minutes on the elliptical. Sumit and I also did about twenty minutes of yoga in the morning. Today, I did the interval climb, elliptical, and the stationary bike.

On Thursday, I did the interval climb for 20 minutes, followed by 20 minutes of spinning and then lots of weights. I did abs, three lower body sets (three reps of 8-12 each of squats, leg press, and dead lift) and three upper body sets (three reps of 8-10 of tricep dips, bicep curls, and butterflies). I was really tired by the end of it, but thankfully Fay and I have this thing where we work out and then we sit in the dry sauna for like 20 minutes. If you have some good moisturizing lotion or oil and a deep conditioner, it's some great pampering! Yesteday I did the interval climb, jogged for 7.5 minutes, and did the elliptical for 23 minutes. Today I'm sore. This is great! I'm pretty sure this blog was a strong factor in me doing weights this week, because I definitely had the inclination to skip it on Thursday.

yoga
Today I did some yoga at USC. I tried out a pilates class the other week and had to leave early because my core was weak and it was putting a lot of strain onto a recurring injury I have in my lower back. So needless to say I was worried about yoga today. My back felt fine, thank god, but I've lost some flexibility from a few years ago. I either need to incorporate more yoga or more stretching. I'm thinking about taking 15 minutes in front of the tv at night to stretch out my legs. Any favorites I should try? I really like pigeon as a hip opener, but am looking for more. I might even get ambitious and add 5 minutes of abs, but thats just crazy talk.

Me too!
So I took the train back to Irvine today where I was surprised with a great home cooked meal, but at 8pm, so no exercise for me either. But I did workout yesterday. Did 15 minutes on the elliptical, a 15 minute jog, and the stair-mill for 15. No weights yet.
playing hooky
I went home really early yesterday, in time for the sun to still be out! To celebrate I went for a run. Using http://www.gmap-pedometer.com/ I found that I ran 2.25 miles in my 'hood. I timed myself, it only took 24 minutes! That is an average of 10.66 min/mile. Its a really fast time for me, so I'm hoping by May when I run that 5k I can beat my college time of 30.30 minutes.

I really want to switch to a morning workout schedule because it would simplify my life so much, but I haven't yet been successful at it for more than a few weeks. I went to the gym in the evening today and did the interval climb, elliptical and had a quick jog. Weights start this week.

Late post
This post is actually for Tuesday. I went to the gym and ran on the treadmill, did the elliptical, and the stairmill. I wanted to get there in time for the spinning class, but traffic had another plan. And then I was bummed because I couldn't do my own spinning routine. So I did the machines, which are getting boring. I need to do more weight-lifting.

going strong!
So I finally started working out regularly again. I can't tell if it is because of this blog, or a bet I made with my family to lose weight....but I really don't care. I've ran more in two days than I did in the month of January, and am feeling pretty good. I even ran 2.5 miles yesterday on the treadmill, which is making me look forward to a 5K I'm doing in May.

Spinning yah!!
I went to the gym yesterday and did the interval climb for 20 minutes and then I got on a spinning bike for 40 minutes and did my own workout. I love spinning. The gym was packed so it was a great option. I'm going to try to go for a run today. It's not as cold in the evenings anymore.

So after a ridiculously long work week in which I was on the brink of sanity towards the end of it, I finally got some exercise in. This weekend I got to the gym (and home to Irvine) on both Saturday and Sunday. I did interval climbs and the elliptical on both days, biked on one day, and jogged on the other, and did one session of abs. I also got to treat myself to a Thai massage. A little Asian lady walked on my back and legs. :) It was cool.

Dodgeball!
I played in a dodgeball tournament on Friday. My team lost, but I did get in 18 minutes of solid cardio. Dodgeball really works the obliques, but unfortunately only on your throwing side. I've also been running two times this week for a grand total of almost 3 miles! Slowly but steadily I'm getting back into exercising.

I finally did something!
Hey guys,
I did some cardio today. My labmate PaoChen and I took a tahitian dance class at USC. It was 45 minutes of booty shaking and hip gyrating. It wasn't the same intensity of running but still it was nice to get moving. I paid for the USC workout program, which is a collection of classes from spin to yoga that I get unlimited access to. Today dance, tomorrow...yoga?spin?pilates? All of the above please!

It's cold as balls here today. I wanted to run on the track today, but when I went to move my car, I changed my mind. Instead I went to the gym and did a standard cardio workout. No weights or abs today. I wanted to try to get on the stair mill, but they were always occupied, so treadmill and eliptical today.
i hurt myself
I think that i really hurt myself the other day when i was working my abs because now i can't even stretch without it hurting. my goal is to alternate abs and running. So today is ab day because i can not move. i have not formed a workot routine as yet due to fact that i need to ease my body into it, my plan is to add something to the routine every week. this week is running and abs, i will add arms to it next week.

Can my workout for the day involve wearing a shirt that is too tight and subsequently have to suck in my belly all day? I'm strengthening my core! I'm going to count it.

Today I did my entire workout on the treadmill. First I did the 20 minute interval climb, then I jogged for 15 minutes and then finished by power-walking for another 15. Afterwards I stretched and did abs. I mixed it up with the abs. I did 12 straight crunches, then twelve to each side for the obliques, then 12 straight but using lower body as well, then 12 bicycles on each side, and then twelve isolations straight (by crossing your legs, you can really target the abs), and twelve straight while rolled on each side. I tried to do some harder abs like lowering your legs, but I was too tired. I finished with some light yoga streches.

Just got back from the gym. Today I did a 20 minute uphill climb on the treadmill, 15 minutes on the elliptical, and 15 minutes jogging. The uphill climb is a really good interval workout I got from Shape magazine. I do it on the treadmill as a climb, but you can vary it. The idea is that if you have only twenty minutes to work out one day, you should definitely do intervals to get your heart going. I'll give you my exact version.

First Day

I started today on what I hope is a road to getting in shape. I am really hoping that I continue on this path because it is a shame all this weight that i have gained just from being lazy. This is what i accompliseh today, i can tell that I am severly out of shape.
